our restoration plan
Here is an overview of our high-level restoration plan:
WINTER
Danae is wrapped for the winter. We will take this opportunity to gut the head (bathroom); trace and restore electrical wiring and remove non-essential wiring leftovers. Some wiring circuits are inactive - we will fix these. Certain items - the lapstrake skiff, the swim step, doors, etc., have been brought home for refinishing.
SPRING & SUMMER
Once weather warms a little, work on the exterior brightwork will begin again. The main cabin deck will be sanded and repainted, and handrails removed, refinished, and replaced.
The black hulk will be restored to its original white and the "battleship gray" decks will be repainted original white, as in the Victoria photo.
COMETH THE SHIPWRIGHTS
Some of the best shipwrights on the west coast are in Port Townsend. We plan to have the hull replanked where necessary then repainted. We will know more about the hull once Danae has been thoroughly inspected as resurveyed.
